Metaplex uses Privy to create and secure the embedded wallet tied to your account. If you want to use that wallet somewhere else, you can export its private key from Privy and import it into any wallet app you prefer.
Keep your private key secret
Anyone who has your private key has full control of your wallet and its funds. Never share it with anyone, and store it somewhere only you can access.
Before you start
If you created your Metaplex account with a wallet (rather than an email or social login), first link a social account so Privy can recognize you:
- Open the account menu in the top-right corner of Metaplex and choose Edit Profile.
- Link a Google or Twitter (X) account.
If you already signed up with an email or social login, you can skip this step.
Export your key from Privy
- Go to the Privy dashboard at home.privy.io.
- Log in with your email.
- Open your account settings using the account icon in the bottom-left corner.
- Link the same Google or Twitter (X) account you used for Metaplex (or linked in the step above). This is what connects your Privy login to your Metaplex wallet.
- Go back to the Home tab on home.privy.io.
- You should now see Metaplex listed among your connected apps, alongside any others you use.
- Select the Metaplex app.
- Click Export keys in the top-right corner.
- Choose the key you want to export and save it somewhere secure — a password manager is a good option. Never share it with anyone.
- Import the private key into your wallet of choice to start using the wallet outside of Metaplex.
